I will need the nph-build.cgi and the admin/GT/CGI.pm files in the first step.
As the examples above showed, everything should work fine as described.
I suppose your GT::CGI module used in v1.x has a lot differences from the latest one, so if the argument parser is missing, this may cause the errors you got.
Anyway, if the suggested solution doesn't work, then you will need a small fix in nph-build.cgi to solve your problem.
The fix will only work, IF your hosting provider is not killing Perl processes after a longer time. So let's hope, you just faced a browser timeout, and not timed Perl process kills by hosting provider.
