Has anyone tried the Oracle Express edition?

I can't get it to work at all. After a fresh install SQLPlus crashes as the server starts up for the first time and I can't access the http admin server. I just get the old "This page cannot be displayed" error.

If you are refering to Oracle 10XE, yes the installation was fine though it does modify few kernel parameters. However, DBD::Oracle installation fails so nothing more could be done for testing gt software and we are just fine with htmldb

Stupid to ask, did you open up 1521 and the port for htmldb in case you are using firewall?

I checked my router firewall as well as my windows firewall and also my sygate firewall
