Hi All
I have been searching all over for a server-side system that offers at the very least the challenge/response method of spam control.
I wanted to be able to ding the mail even before I saw it. I especially did not want to have to download the stuff first then filter it locally.
I found a bunch of things, but the one that seems the most interesting so far is TMDA (Tagged Message Delivery Agent):
http://tmda.net
It uses whitelists, blacklists, challenge/response, and something they call tagged addresses (which sound like they allow you to permit an email address a timed period of access)
It's written in python, can be installed for server-wide use, but I "think" it can be installed at the virtual level, though I haven't fully read all the stuff about this.
Works with qmail, Courier, Exim/Postfix, and Sendmail.
All in all, I think I may have found what I have been looking for. If anyone tries it, I'd be interested to hear your experience with it.
Oh, did I mention that it's free, too?
Cheers
