View sites before DNS updates, on Plesk?

Just wondering. I've had a look around, but can't see anything about this. Is there a way to use your IP address to preview the sites folders etc before the domain name has resolved to the server? For example, on my old server I could use; http://207.230.62.131/~ace-installer.com, but on this system I don't seem to be able to.

I could just wait til its resolved....but I'm quite an impatient person (as some of you may already know...lol).

Well, semi managed. The will install stuff for me, but the addition of domains/databases etc are avaiailble for me to do, as well as other stuff like restarting the machine etc. Plesk makes it very easy for that kinda stuff Tongue

In answer to your question though it is related to apache. Read:

http://httpd.apache.org/...mod/mod_userdir.html

It may be different with plesk installed though.

Well, I didn't actually pay $500. I got it for $199. The setup was done instantaniously...so I'm assuming they build the systems, install it, and then leave them til someone buys it...maybe they even have a program that does it all for them, to save them even more time (could be why some of the stuff is outdated) Tongue

Well, if it's an out-of-the-box installation of a Linux distribution, then it's always going to be out-dated. All linux distributions are outdated. They package them up with stable releses of software which isn't usualy the latest release. I wouldn't be too bothered about it if I was you.

LOL...I'm not. Its only PHP I'm worried about, as there was quite a large bug in one of the oldver v4 releases in which file uploads could be exploited. I may talk to the support team later, and get them to upgrade it Wink

Well I would seeing as RedHat 7.2 normally comes with Apache 1.3.20

I run the server and have more important things to do currently than upgrade apache....however I haven't just purchased a new server and been given 1.3.12...there quite a big difference ;)

I'm really not that bothered believe me, I'm just saying I'd be a little peeved if I was Andy...

I just installed RedHat 7.2 on a box here in the office last week and I can tell you that it installed Apache version 1.3.20 as default.

Another question.....does anyone know how to add a SSH account via Plesk without having to do it from the admin SSH account with 'useradd' ???

These are questions you should be asking your host or you could just go and read the plesk faqs at plesk.com Crazy.

Read being the keyword there....not scan the page and post here again saying you couldn't find anything Cool.
