Community Builder-NEW SCRIPT
Ted, Alex, SolutionScripts-people and All,

How about a Community Builder Script ?

Why dont you guys get together and produce a Community Builder CGI package that with the following features:

UBB
HomeFree (see http://www.solutionscripts.com
Classifieds
Personals-Virtual Yenta (see http://www.yenta.matchmaker.com
Links (see http://www.gossamer-threads.com/scripts/forum/
Surveys
Counters
DBMan
UGBook (see UBB site)
and any and all other features you guys can think of.

This way, USERS only have to maintain ONE password for the whole site, and they can log into their own admin-homepage.

Hey, and maybe Netscape and Microsoft can get together, so that users only have to maintain one browser!!

Sol, just because YOU are trying to build a website with every possible feature (translation: LEMMING (tm)!), does not mean that everyone else is too.

These programs are too different to be able to work as a suite. Not to mention that the programmerss are just a tad to busy with their own endeavours. They are not hear to build you your own personal website (which incidently, you've been raving about for the better part of a year and have still not set up).

Please... stop with the "I need", "Here's what I want", "You should do THIS!", "I need to know what new features you're planning, even before you decide"

These programs were created, for the public, do to a varity of functions (seperatly), and designed in a general way so that more people would benefit from them. If the programs do not do exactly what you want, hire a programmer to create your programs from scratch.

I'm getting tired of going through this with you every 3 or 4 months.

Actually, Mark, although I agree with you completely, I have tryed to hire several programmers at different times.

Guess what?
When we agree on price they change their minds.
When we finally agree on timeframe they change their minds again.

So, I guess I have to simply wait and see who comes up with what...

Thanks for the advice however. I will sit on the sidelines for another 3 months and see what happens as I have before...

Happy new years...

Fred,

Thanks for the advice. Yes I am studying Perl for NT as we speak.
I also have just about every script available on the net. I have a GIG of Perl Scripts, Java Scripts, and Java applets.
I know full well what is out there. I have spent TWO years searching the web for SCRIPTS that would help me get my website going, so I can become rich slowly....hehehe

As far as time? hehehe I wish I had some.

Let me give you an idea of how much time I have.

I work about 70 hours each week. I will be working this kind of hours till March, because I am upgrading Servers and Workstations in 244 Branches for a major bank.

I am strugling to study Prl as well as other things at the same time.

Once again, Thank you.

You know Sol.. there are tons of free programs available with lots of config options that make these options possible and allow you to present your site with a common format.

Have you visited http://www.cgi-resources.com ..? They have TONS of stuff. Or.. better yet, I am not sure what sort of time you have on your hands, but learn PERL. Its not hard at all, and in 7 days, you can be a very competant programmer. In a month of practical programming, you can be nearly a master.

I oughta know..
