Re: I need a script for MetaSearch EngineIn reply to
Yeah, me to, I know one http://www.chatologica.com/chat/products.htm but I want to look at some other scripts too. There must be more metacrawlers scripts out there?!
Re: I need a script for MetaSearch EngineIn reply to
I have over 5000 pages indexed and it searches very quickly. I think that this would be much faster than any cgi script. Just my thought, but I would reconsider webinator. I have used XAV II in the past and passed it o for webinator. I personally feel webinator is much faster, nad can handle more sites than XAV. I also like the multiple customization options.

If you guys are looking for a metasearch solution have a look at: http://services.curryguide.com/
They have a free version of 'Virtual Search Engine' that works with Links or similar site search scripts and you don't need to change your Links script at all.

Lucas, if you don't have search engine permission, they may sue you for this. Because permission is so hard to get, i think you need to contact them before finding any script. As far as I know, meta search script is very easy to get........

Re: I need a script for MetaSearch EngineIn reply to
Xav RULES! Exactly what I was looking for. You get a lot out of the script than most paid scripts. (Using the IIS scripts with the Index Server is annoying and time consuming.) Has anyone done modifications on the script to include the following features:
1) Links to other search engines that takes the search terms from the Xav search. (Much like what can be done in Links.)
2) Joining tables for the Compact View. I would like to have a header row for the compact view. But I can't seem to get it to work.
3) Crone process for deleting entries in the summaries.html after a certain date. (Need to run on NT.)
4) Crone build process for automatically building the index rather than manually building the index. (Also needs to run on NT.)
5) Ignoring common hidden directories on the NT like those annoying /_vti_cnf/ directories throughout a web site, including child/sub-webs. (I know that you can list individual directories within the build.pl file, but it is time consuming to list all the hidden directories within a web site.)
I know that I could probably get some support from the Xav site, however, since many of you guys are using the script, I am wondering if you have modified the script.
TIA.
