My guess; perl but with a php *front-end* available in future releases. The guts of the program will always be Perl. Front end can be anything you like; go ahead and code some Ruby if you wish ;-)
Ruby is popular in Japan but never seen it in action ... it's supposed to be a next step in languages. well, that's what the folks on TV said over here.

Yeah, that's true. It could actually be better for a few applications than Perl. There's a big debate going on about this on the CPLM usenet group now.
If Perl doesn't hurry up with version 6 then they could be loosing a few supporters.
