Add record via FTP ?
Hello and Merry X-mas !

I have installed the 2.27 version of webdata at my server.Everything runs OK.
I have added 3 records via the admin-page
and they all show up on user-search.

The data.log file looks like:

111: elete Me::admin
914342912::1::Ekenäs-1::admin
914342935::2::Ekenäs-2::admin
914342963::3::Ekenäs-3::admin

The readme-file technical notes says:
[dbname]_data.log - This is the delimeted text file of all of your data.
If for some reason you find that you need
to make an edit without using the Webdata interface, you may open this file in any
(plain) text editor and make your changes. For example, if you wish to change a large quantity of records at one time,
it will be faster to use MS Word's auto-replace,than to select and delete each one individually in Webdata.
You should always backup a log file before making changes to it.

If I do that and upload via Ftp as ASCII,chmod -755.
The search result is: NO RECORDS FOUND.

Question 1: What are the long strings of numbers in the original data.log generated via the admin page: 914342912, 914342935, 914342963.
They are inserted in front of my fields.
I have only 2 fields ID and Skolans-namn (School-name in English)

Question 2: If I just want to ADD one record to the original data.log-file and do it with my text editor for test purpose
what should it look like ??
(I have 4600 records to be inserted each with 19 different fields so it´s a must to do it with a text-editor and upload via FTP directly in to my dir.)

Greetings from Sweden

Are you in the right place? (Reminds me of a student in the wrong classroom) Wink

There is no version 2.27, and the file does not look like mine. I'd be interested in seeing the program though, please send me a URL and I'll take a look.

Cheers,

Alex
