Autogenerate HTML

Autogenerate HTML
I searched through the archives as best I could, but I couldn't find specific direction regarding this problem:

The default database installed and worked perfectly.

I altered (and renamed) the cfg file to define my own database (for tracking alumni). I turned the autogenerate on. I called the db with the appropriate string (?db=alumni).

The initial add record screen looked ok, and I thought I was on my way, but when I actually pressed the button to add the record, it seems as if the table definitions from html.pl were hard coded for the default database and I had all kinds of problems. First, it kept inserting the userid in field 9 (which was a homepage URL in my database). Then, basically in most of the forms it inserts the table definition for the default database in the forms for my alumni database.

Am I supposed to rewrite all the table definitions in html.pl to match my database configuration? I'm not complaining, but if so why isn't that in the documentation with some instructions on how to do it? I'm hoping that's not the case, and that I screwed something up and someone can tell me how to get the html.pl file to autogenerate my own personal html.

Thanks!

You may want to check out JPDeni's DBMan tutorial. I believe that by going through the tutorial it will help you to understand your options of using autogenerate or building your own fields.

She also has a configurator at her site which will help you to setup your fields. Check it out at: http://www.jpdeni.com/dbman/

We would also perhaps need to see a copy of your .cfg file to see if we can spot anything. What you would need to do is save a copy of your .cfg as a text file and then provide the url to access it.
