cleaning up the ID numbers ???

cleaning up the ID numbers ???
Hey folks,

I know I saw a disscussion on here somewhere where there where comments on how the ID numbers would get incremented eventhough other data was being deleted causing gaps in the counting scale.

Was this ever solved or is this just something we have to live with?

thanks

You can fix it by going in and manually changing the .db file if you want. You'll also have to change the .count file to match the last number in your .db file.

Understand, though, that the ID field is not meant to be a count of the number of records you have. It is just there to be a unique identifier for the record.

Renumbering all of the records every time a record is deleted would be theoretically possible, but not something I would be willing to tackle.

Actually, it was more of thought rather than a request.

Thanks for the quick reply.
