DBMan Alpha Links 2 and a question to Anthro
Sorry to ask, but I searched for about 8 hours now in both Modification forums and the Thread in the DBMan MOD Forum is there, but all links are dead.

Someone got the new adress, or the instructions and files on his/her harddrive and could send them to me?

If yes, please mail me at webmaster@muyo.de

@Antrho:

Where are the resources on your site? I searched, but couldn't find them (I mean the one you told us in your ??old??/??actual?? signature) or did you mean the GT resources?

MfG

Michael

All my MODS have been pulled...as I have stated before...for the following reasons:

1) Lack of appreciation by several Links users.
2) Inability to "support" the MODS in terms of adding features and fixing bugs.
3) I have moved on to LINKS SQL, so it is pointless for me to spend time writing Mods for LINKS 2.0.

Hmmm.....I see.

But is there a chance, that you have an old backup of these files?

It's not that I need them to survive, but after 6 month of doing nothing on my links 2 engine, I want to work on it again, and some of your MODs look nice.

Bugs? No problem. Compatibility probs with other MODs? No problem =)

And if you like, I'll put a bannerlink to your site on my site. Do you have 81 x 33 Buttons? These are the best format for the engine. (You can look at it in my signature.)

Nope...because if I give you the Mods, then I have to give them to everyone else....

BTW: Glennu and other LINKS 2.0 users have "revived" some of the modifications and written their own Modifications...so, it would be wise to peruse their MOD directories, which many of the MODS are listed in the Resources section.

And there is already an alphabetical mod for Links 2.0, if you want to use it, which is linked in the Resources section and also referenced in this forum quite a few times...it also is not hard to use DBMAN for the alphabetical listing of your LINKS.

Hmmmm.....

I see. Good points.

Hmmm....I mainly got most of the MODs on my harddrive.

The Alphabetical MOD in the Resources looks good, but I didn't get it running. And getting DBMan running with links is easy? Hmm, I'll try.

Michael

@PaulWilson:

As I said above, I searched for about 8 hours in both Modification forums. Everything I found where fixes or suggestions for DBMan, not really the MOD.

And the "DBMan marriages with Links 2" thread is there, but all links in it are dead. Ok, the resourcelinks are working, but not the forumlinks =(

It isnt a mod as such.

You have to copy your links database definition into the DBMAN def file and tell dbman to use links.db in the config file and change the settings so users don't have to login before searching....etc....

Ok, I sat down again on the Alphabetical MOD and finally got it working.

There where some incompatibilities with other MODs, which I had to add to the Alpha MOD.

Thx for your responses =)

Hi,

I followed all the instructions on the Alphabetical Mod..re-read them twice...and I still have a small problem.

When I "Build All" no errors.
When I "Staggered (Auto) it goes through the whole process until the end where it says :

Generating alphabetical view pages . . .
** Building Letter: a ...

And nothing happens after that.

I checked to see if the files are created and they are.

I even tried Directory/a/ and it's there.

Any reason why this stops and I receive a time out:

Generating alphabetical view pages . . .
** Building Letter: a ...

Thanks

Madonna

The problem seems to be located in:

($step == 4) and do {
print $header;
print qq~<meta http-equiv="Refresh" content="2;
URL=nph-build.cgi?staggered=1&step=5&auto=$auto">~ if ($auto);
print $sub_head;

my $t1 = time();
print "** Loading Category information . . .\n";
&build_category_information;
print "** Done (", time - $t1, " s)!\n\n";

$t1 = time();
print "** Loading Summary information . . .\n";
&build_stats (1);
print "** Done (", time - $t1, " s)!\n\n";

$t1 = time();
print "** Creating Home Page . . .\n";
&build_home_page;
print "** Done (", time - $t1, " s)!\n\n";

$t1 = time();
print "** Creating What's New Pages . . .\n";
&build_new_page;
print "** Done (", time - $t1, " s)!\n\n";

$t1 = time();

&build_cool_page;
print "** Done (", time - $t1, " s)!\n\n";

$t1 = time();
print "** Creating Top Rated Page. . .\n";
&build_rate_page;
print "** Done (", time - $t1, " s)!\n\n";

my $elapsed = time() - $start;
print "------------------------------------------------\n";
print "Step 4 took $elapsed seconds.\n\n";
print qq~</PRE><P><B><font face="Verdana" size=2>
<a href="nph-build.cgi?staggered=1&step=5&auto=$auto">Go on to Step 5!</A>
</B></FONT></P>~;
last CASE;
};
($step == 5) and do {
print $header, $sub_head;
my @alphabet = ('a','b','c','d','e','f','g','h','i','
j','k','l','m','n','o','p','q','r','s','t','u','v','w','x','y','z');
if ($build_alpha) {
my $t1 = time();
print "Generating alphabetical view pages . . . \n";
foreach $let (@alphabet) {
print "** Building Letter: $let ... \n";
&build_single_alpha ($let);
}
print "** Done (", time - $t1, " s)!\n";
}
else {
print "Alphabetical View Building is not turned on -- Skipping!\n\n";
}
my $elapsed = time() - $start;
print "------------------------------------------------\n";
print qq~Step 5 took $elapsed seconds.\n\n<b>
<a href="$build_root_url" target="_top">Your site</a> is now up to date!</b>~;
last CASE;
};
&cgierr("Unkown step: $step.");
};
}

Step 4 appears to all right but Step 5 is getting hung up.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Smile

Are you building thru your browser? If so don't, it could be why your getting a time out, instead build your directory via telnet.

Good Luck!

Hi Glenn,

Yes, I am building thru my browser. Not sure why I am getting a time out. I have checked the code and even compared to my old code to see if I left anything out.

Thanks for responding. Smile

Hi,

I have added a few mods and most likely they are not compatible. I am going to re-check it again. It will not validate any new links either.

Hi
I have another bad news: even build all works fine to build all you alphabetical pages until your database grows, then even build all gives you time out. I guess one of the solutions would be having a separate sub just for this mode.

Good luck everyone
