CALLING ALL RAQ2 USERS. nhp how to get them to work
Hi all, I just received the following, I havnt had a chance to check it out yet.

Thank you for contacting Cobalt Networks Technical Support.

Out of the box, NPH scripts will not work properly on a RaQ 2. NPH scripts need
to be explicitly run by Apache's mod_asis, so that additional headers are not
added.

Telnet to the RaQ, become root, and edit /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf.

You'll need to add a line like this:
AddType httpd/send-as-is asis

After saving your change, restart Apache with:
/etc/rc.d/init.d/httpd.init stop; /etc/rc.d/init.d/httpd.init start

Give your NPH scripts the .asis extension, and then they should execute
correctly.

More information about mod_asis can be found here:
http://www.apache.org/docs-1.2/mod/mod_asis.html

If you have any additional questions, please let us know.

Attention all Raq users!!!!

Just follow Alex's instructions to the detail and you won't have a problem!
The new Raq3's no longer run on MIPs!

Other than that.....if you DO get that nasty nph-build.cgi error yes, it could be a CHMOD or ascii problem, but on a Raq2, it is because you need to CHMOD the directories the error's are coming from. I looked at the script and if anything, you'd need to CHMOD the admin/data where the nph-build.cgi builds to.

I did exactly as above, but when you rename the files to .asis then it reports can't find nph-build.cgi? How do you get around this?

Hi there,

Try looking for links to the file nph-build.cgi in the files within The LINKS program, then change these to the asis extension.

Where this I need to ad in the httpd.conf,
I added somewhere in between
AddType httpd/send-as-is asis

I renemed nph-build.cgi to nph-build.asis ,
but it ask for to save the file on the local disk ( File download),

So I thought the addtype is not working , so please tell me where in particuler should i add that line .

Thanks In adance.

I am able to build on telent prompt
perl nph-build.asis

it worked, I think The web interfce should not be used for building database, by telnet you can do that. I think all ppls here are doing the same ot they succeeded in getting it through web interface.

So does eyecool's statement

mean that nph scripts will run on raq3's without any problem?

I'm hoping to acquire this very machine, I did send an email about nph scripts and their new server to Cobalt but have yet received no reponse. FYI - the new cobalt raq3 server operates on an Intel compatible processor, does not specify name brand.

Thanks

Hello wesley,

I was reading this thread and I would like to ask you how did you do to work with nph-files in your RAQ3....?

Best regards from Spain.
