I am using Links 1.1.

I would like to include spaces in my category names (i.e., Arts and Entertainment) yet I get the ol' "invalid name" error.

I noticed on the "sample" site that spaces are used, but in the resulting path, the spaces are replaced with an underscore.

Is this possible with 1.1 or should I upgrade?

You don't need to upgrade. Just use underscores _ instead of spaces.

You use underscores for all category names instead of spaces. Whenever you want to display the category names without the underscores, you use $category_clean (non-templates) or <%category_clean%> (templates). That will display the category name with all the "/" and "_" removed.
