links admin.cgi error

my new installation of links.
When I try to run the admin cgi I get an error: [error] malformed header from script. Bad header=Illegal character \015 (carria: /usr/cgiwrap/cgiwrap. I usually am able to debug my own scripts by running them from the telnet command line but when I tried to do this with this script heres what it said: CGI ERROR

I have never had a script tell me I could not run it fromm the telnet command line. Got any ideas what might be wrong?

This is normal...you cannot execute the admin.cgi script via telnet.

With regards to the header errors, I am not sure how to fix that...since I do not use cgiwrap.
