Hi. I'm running 0.9.1 of GT Community, but am having some problems with the import. The main one being that the fields do not match up.

For example...

Existing Program User:

Email
First
Last
Password

GT Comm User:

Email
First Name
Password
Last Name

For example, this seems to cause 'last name' to get confused with 'password', and vice-versa. Is there a fix for this? If GT see this, and want to have a play on the installation I have setup, please let me know

They have to match up one for one... and (as yet) you cannot use a field twice.

Put the columns next to each other, and you will see how they match up...

Email => Email

First => First Name

Last => Password

Password => Last Name

When you do the import, you have to match these up IN ORDER, top to bottom.

Sorry- was NOT trying to be obtuse!

OK, this only happens when you set it up- you cannot go BACK and do it.... so I am doing this from memory.

But as I remember, you add a new client/service/whatever, say Links. It presents you with that list of fields... if they do not line up as you desire, you can remove some (I would recommend removing fields from only the bottom, your Links install) and then re-add them in the correct order.

I think, if you have special fields (Occupation, Website, Location- I use those!) you must add the feilds to GTComm first. so that it will sync them up.

Syncing them up after the fact is a horrible pain in the arse!

If you do have special fields, and you want to keep them in sync, I have modded GTComm to do that... that is, if a user changes say Location in GTComm, I rewrote the CODE (note: it is NOT a plug-in, it is a code mod!) to update Links at the same time. I have removed all user profilers changes from Links and put them into GTComm. If you would like to know more, I am always happy to share.

I just installed another community, and it didn't seem to have this problem. The fields seemed to be ok for both Links and Gforum.

Of course, I didn't try to add or change any fields.
