Has there been any latest new about adding the 'remote' feature for Gossamer Community? For some reason I thought it had come out and it even has the option for remote in the help files but no such thing in the set up selections.

Would love to hear any updates.

I've been desperately needing this, and have been toying with a hack around, but a full-blown solution for integrating remote sites would be so wonderful!

We had to make our own so called Account Area back when we first installed linksSQL, this is so much nicer and easier to manage.

Prior to 2x I had a separate database doing the user management for all my links SQL sites. 2x made that a real problem.

I've been hoping for community for a long time now... even for just preventing duplicate usernames across our sites.

It hasn't yet materialized unfortunately. There hasn't been nearly as much demand for it as for the single server (of course if anyone out there needs it done asap as a custom paid job, let me know). It is something we will be doing though.
