"Host" field in the logon screen.
What the point of the "Host" field in the logon screen.
As I understand it is always run from localhost
isn't it ?

No it isn't always localhost.
You can't enter localhost if your mysql server is on a different machine.

Yeah.
You would have to set up mysql to accept connections from remote servers to do that.
So you'd enter something like:
Host : www.mydomain.com
But if mysqlman is on the same server as mysql then you can just enter localhost
