Adding Meta Tags

Adding Meta Tags
Hi There, I'm Baaaack!

Just kidding. Anyway, still trying to iron out the email option, but something else recently came up that I find little or no mention of here.

Since our DBman database is a focal point on our website, how or where should we (can we?) add Meta Tags before submitting the URL to search engines?

BTW - When submitting to search engines, should we include the "uid=default" in the URL so that spiders will bypass the login? We've noticed on our discussion board that spiders seem to ignore pages that require login.

Anyone?

Thanks,
BB

Boy, this is something I don't know about at all. I don't know if spiders access cgi scripts at all.

However, if they do, you can add META tags to the html.pl file just like you would to a regular html page.

I would suggest adding the uid=default to the URL.

To my knowledge search engines do not spider cgi scripts.

That's why Links is such a nice program, because it creates a bunch of index.html's which do get spidered.

Thanks for the input!

BTW - Katana Man, I have another application I was thinking about for the Links program, so that may come in handy. I've still got one or two issues with DBman to get nailed down before tackling anything new, but thanks for the comment as attracting search engines is always a subject of interest.
