Hello again,
Just being new to Perl, I need help in getting the program to start.
I don't know where to start.
I am running it under Windows 2000 Server and have download ActiveState's latest version of Perl 5.6.
What I need to know now are SPECIFIC STEPS as to what I need to do. I see that all the processing happens in db.cgi and that html.pl creates the HTML pages.
What I don't how to do is:
1. Get the "default" page up and to even display!
Just an observation, I find that the documentation for setting it up and having it view on a local machine is very poor (maybe its just me).
I feel it would be better to instruct users with detailed, step-by-step instruction. For example:
1. download the latest version of Perl.
2. make a note of the path of your Perl and CGI directory locations.
3. Install DBMan.
4. Under a Unix/Linux platform, ensure that . . .
5. Under a Windows platform, ensure that ....
6. To edit db.cgi and change configurations, use your text editor and change the following areas to suit your ...
7. To view the page on your workstation, follow these steps:
a. ....
b. ....
Any information on how I can view it on my Windows box is greatly appreciated.
